Design 3 Project
Architectural Model & Drawings
Date
November - December 2022
In my second year's first-semester design class, I embarked on an ambitious project within the verdant expanse of Astoria Public Park in Queens, New York. Intrigued by the park's natural topography, I meticulously extracted and analyzed the site's contour lines, allowing them to guide and inform the conceptual framework of my design. The result was a harmonious blend of architecture and landscape, where fluid, organic forms echoed the undulating terrain. Each curve and elevation in my design reflected the park's rhythms, creating a bathhouse that not only respects but also enhances the existing topography. The intricate play of light and shadow, combined with the thoughtful integration of green spaces, bridges the gap between the built environment and natural sanctuary, offering a serene retreat amidst the urban fabric of Queens.
